Frame built for Foundation
It really saves a lot of time when you don't have to dig for a basement!!

Water and Sewer Pipes
It was a bit cloudy Saturday, but here is the latest picture
of the lot. You'll probably notice if you look closely that the only
difference is the pipes sticking up out of the ground. They are supposed
to pour the foundation next week, so it will change a lot after that.

Foundation Poured
When we got to our lot on Friday afternoon, the foundation had been
poured. There were also a bunch of piles of dirt surrounding the house
and there was a big port-a-potty right in front of our camera shot!
We moved it, hoping that there wasn't anybody inside. |

Framing Materials Strategically Placed to Obstruct View
We were told they would start framing on Tuesday, so when we got to
the lot we were pleasantly surprised to see a big pile of wood on
our front lawn. (Pleasantly surprised because we don't want them to
finish before the end of August.) They took the wooden frame off of
the foundation, so it looked pretty smooth. We'll see what it looks
like on Saturday . . . |

Framing Started on Both Floors
Okay, what's up with that? We leave the house alone for two days,
and look what happens! They're nearly finished with it! Unbelievable.
You can see it starting to take shape, and so the interesting phase
of construction begins. |

Framing Almost Complete
We knew that we'd have to go back soon to get another good picture,
so Wednesday we loaded up and went to the house. It's starting to
take shape, so it was kind of an exciting trip. A couple more weeks,
and they'll be done with the exterior for a while. |

Windows and Siding
Look at that progress! It's almost a house! I actually kind
of like the blue color. Maybe we'll tell them to forget
about the brick and just leave the blue moisture barrier
up. In addition to the windows and siding, they finished
all of the plumbing and put in the water heater. We are
getting ready to wire it up for speakers.

Roof and Windows Finished
As you can see, the windows and roof are just about finished. Inside,
they've finished all of the wiring and ductwork, so it won't be long
before they put in the insulation and sheetrock. After that, all they
have to do is paint and put in tile, carpet, and appliances. |

Insulation Finished / Sheetrock Going Up
How do you like our new truck? Not really. It's a Mexican truck. You
can see the piles of bricks and the plastic-covered mortar ready to
put up. It will be sad when they cover up our beautiful blue house
with brick! We've grown to like the blue color. |

Brick Finished, Cabinets and Doors Started
We were quite surprised to find that our house had changed colors.
We knew it was inevitable, but it was still a bit sad. That blue house
had personality. So here is our brick! |

Banister and Fireplace Installed
Today we walked into a house full of paint fumes. There was wet paint
everywhere so we had to keep close tabs on Sammi. All the baseboards
and trimming were painted white and the first primer coat was on the
walls. The house looks a lot better without the scaffolding. |

Almost finished!
There are only a few things left to be done! The kitchen needs counters
and sinks, and the back yard needs grass and a fence. They will put
all of the appliances in a few days before closing, which is scheduled
for July 29. And of course, we need a front door! |
