Wednesday, February 9th was Samantha's 5th birthday. To her this was a big day, and now that she is 5 she thinks the world has changed over night. She tells all of her friends that she is 5 and older then them. She is gaining confidence to try things that she couldn't do before, such as opening the childproof doorknobs. And she thinks that she needs all new clothes because the other ones were for when she was 4.

Well for such a special day, we tried to make it fun. For her it was all about presents, so I wrapped up as many things as I could and gave her presents throughout the day. Most of her presents were food items like her own box of cereal and her own box of fruit snacks; she seemed to think it was great.

For lunch we went to Chil-Fil-a, where Samantha got to have her own kids meal. The kids played and then we got ice-cream cones and then they went back to play some more. Next we stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up balloons and some things for her cake.

That night Craig and Cherise came over to help us celebrate. We went to dinner at Los Cucos, where Samantha got her meal free. They also gave her a free dessert and all the waiters’ came out and sang to her.

Next we went back home for presents and cake. The Princess Analiese cake had cracked and hadn't been finished, but we settled for cupcakes and finished the cake the next day.

Samantha got some fun presents; besides all the food items and clothes, she also got a Barbie Carriage and a Princess Canopy to go over her bed.

The Next Day

This is Samantha the next day at preschool celebrating her birthday with her friends. She was really disappointed when I told her a few weeks ago that her friends would not be bringing presents for her birthday party, but now I know on the side that she was telling everyone to bring them anyway. We had preschool that day as normal except we saved snack time for the end when we had pizza, cupcakes and icecream.

I just wanted to forget the whole cake idea, but I whipped up some frosting and Samantha helped me make her pink dress. The frosting was a little runny and because the cake had cracked the princess was a little short. The pictures are really funny, because Analise looks like she is melting. At least Samantha was happy.
