This was to be our first Christmas in Texas alone, instead we decided to drive to Texas. We jokingly talked about it all week, then on Thrusday we heard a storm was coming through, so we made the decision to go and beat the storm. I packed in 4 hours, dirty/clean clothes and gathered all the presents from under the tree.

Friday night 24 hours later we drove up to Scott’s mom’s home. We pulled out on of our blankets and rand the doorbell as we hid the entire family under the blanket. All she could see were feet. We let her look at us for a few seconds before throwing off the blanket and yelling surprise!! She was speechless and shocked not to mention a little teary. She had left our house a few weeks ago, not knowing when she would see us again and we surprised her but coming to visit for Christmas.

Next we had to find a way to surprise my family. But the question was how to get everyone to the door for the surprise. Scott’s mom called and said she wanted to drop off a gift to the family. Then at the door she refused to come in saying she wanted to sing them a Christmas carol once they were all present. In addition as a surprise to my mom, we wrote return to sender on the package she had sent the day before. Scott’s mom never even had to sing to buy us time, my mom was too shocked over the package that everyone came to the door to see what the problem was. That was when we came out from behind the bushes and yelled surprise. It was a fun night surprising everyone. The next day it just continued. Scott showed up unannounced at the door of Mike and Julie’s house and later that day we made our appearance on his Grandma’s 90th birthday party where we surprised the rest of his siblings.

In summary we spent Saturday evening with the Ethington’s who were still in shock to see us. Sunday which was Christmas Eve, we spent with the Coleby’s for the nice dinner. I made it back for the traditional eggnog in front of the fire. Of course I was helping Santa in getting Scott’s surprise Gift ready complete with batteries.

Breaking from tradition we had Santa deliver Christmas gifts at Scott’s mom’s house. Laura and Brian had also come to spend their morning with Scott’s mom. The kids all started at the top of the stairs, excited and waiting to see what Santa brought. Samantha a month earlier had picked out a special baby doll at Toy’s R Us. The exact doll was waiting for her by her stocking. She was very excited and picked out the name Abigail, who she now calls Abby for short. The twins and Jacob we all met with GeoTrax train sets. They each had their own set with their remote trains. Later in the day we put all the tracks together for a big track and we they have kept it that way ever since. Jacob has been asking for this train set for a few months since he saw it at a friend’s house.

All the boys really seemed to enjoy them and they have done a great job in sharing each others tracks. The mentioned gift for Scott was a RoboReptile, a cousin to the RoboRaptor and RoboSapian’s that we got last year, but didn’t keep. This Reptile obviously still has his problems, but we decided he was a keeper. My presents we at home still under the tree, since we didn’t have room to bring everything. Scott surprised me with a tennis racket, and I had bought a wheat grinder with last years Christmas money.

As usual we spent the week going back and forth between houses. We made a few trips to Café Rio and had fun spending time with everyone.
